Come explore the ancient medium of Encaustics. From the basics, to an in depth study of the process, using melted beeswax, pigments and damar resin to create richly, colored paintings. We will explore the history, safety, and versatility of this intense medium that invites you to experiment!
Day 1: Hand-on practice, where you will follow demonstrations, covering variety processes including: fusing, incising, image transfer collage, pigment sticks, shellac, and multiple mixed media possibilities.
Day 2: Finding your voice, working in a series, incorporating photography and paper with wax.
